Location: Bryce Canyon National Park

Overview:

  • Knowledge of the technical methods and procedures of archeology to perform a variety of routine technical tasks.
  • Basic understanding of the principles and theory of archeology to support the broader archeological function.
  • Participates in basic archeological field surveys by walking over the landscape and searching for archeological features and artifacts. Records data and prepares survey records (e.g., site maps, photographs, surface artifact analysis forms, field notes, etc.)

Position Responsibilities:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to work effectively and independently for long hours in the field.
  • A working knowledge of GPS, and reading maps.
  • Experience in 4x4 vehicle operation and ATV use.
  • Basic knowledge of bird and mammal identification desired.
  • Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well alone and in group situations

Qualifications:

BA/BS degree, or higher, in Anthropology specializing in Archaeology.
